Janice Glimn-Lacy was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and grew up in Nashville, Tn; Findlay, Ohio; and Dearborn, MI. She has also lived in Grand Haven, Ann Arbor and Garden City, MI; Newport and East Greenwich, RI; San Diego, Bellflower, San Francisco, and Vallejo, CA; Bremerton, WA; Athens, GA; Nicosia, Cyprus, and Beirut, Lebanon. She now resides in Indianapolis, IN.

Jan studied in the School of Nursing and graduated from the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Herron School of Art & Design, Indiana University - Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI).

As an instructor of Botanical Art & Illustration in adult education programs, Jan taught at the University of Michigan, the Indianapolis Art Center, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Positions have been in neurological, anatomical, and botanical research; medical illustration; pathology and operating room procedures; and landscape design.

Subjects of research papers have been in botany, operating room procedure for the handling of radium, electron microscopy, and electrophoresis of cerebral spinal fluid proteins.

Botanical illustrations include work for posters, brochures, newsletters, Ph.D. theses, exhibition design, note cards, scientific articles, and college text books.

Art works include the use of watercolor, oil, pastel, ink, colored pencil, and gouache. Work has been exhibited at the University of Michigan School of Art, the Garden City Art Society, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Indianapolis Art Center, the Watercolor Society of Indiana, and Herron School of Art & Design.

Associations at the present time are the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society, Indianapolis Museum of Art Horticultural Society, and the Watercolor Society of Indiana.
