May 23.  Rosa 'Autumn Sunset' is a fantastic climbing rose. 
It is winter-hardy in zone 5 and fragrant. 
A special bonus is that Japanese beetles prefer other plants, given a choice.
  



June 26.  The White Bed. 
Plants in flower are Lilium, Verbena (in the pot)
and Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium 'Snowball.') 
Foliage plants with white in the background are Hosta 'Night Before Christmas'
and Japanese Painted Fern (Athyrium goeringianum).
  

June 26.  The Yellow Bed. 
Front of the border plants are Coreopsis grandiflora 'Early Sunrise,'
C. verticillata ' Golden Showers' and 'Zagreb.' 
In the background are Achillea filipendula 'Parker's Variety,'
Centurea macrocephala, Lilium 'African Queen,' Hemerocallis 'Bonanza,
' Berberis 'Bonaza Gold,' Lysimachia ciliata 'Purpurea,' (purple leaves with yellow flowers). 
Background shrubs are Smokebush (Cotinus coggygria) 'Royal Purple,'
and Kerria japonica 'Picta,'
  

  

July 22.  The Yellow Bed.  By now Daylilies and Hosta flowers dominate with the
beginning of Verbena bonariensis which self-seed at the edge. 
The foreground shrub is Spiraea x bumalda 'Gold Mound.'
 

July 22.  Dayliles.  Hosta 'Yellow Edger' and Chamaecyparis
Pisfera
'Gold Mop' also contribute to the yellow theme of this bed.
 

July 22. Birdbath Bed.  Astilbe chinensis 'Pumila,' Allium tanguticum 'Summer Beauty,
' Hosta 'Ginkgo Craig,' H. 'Allen P. McConnell,
'and our native Wild Ginger (Asarum canadense) complete the picture.
 

July 22.  In the Red Bed. Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Canadian Goose,'
and  Bee Balm (Monarda didyma 'Cambridge Scarlet').
