May 5.  The White Bed. 
In the foreground are Candytuft (Iberis sempervirons) on the right,
Japanese Painted Fern (Athyrium goeringianum) on the left. 
In the pot is a pink Verbena hybrid  (Verbena ‘Lanai Lavender Star’). 
The white-flowering shrub in the background is Deutzia gracilis.

By this date more Iris are in flower.
 

May 5.  Hostas are well along after an unusually early warm spring.

On the right in the grass is H. ‘Sunshine Glory.’

The white-flowering shrub is Spiraea x vanhouttei. 
Under the Smokebush (Cotinus coggygria ‘Royal Purple’)
are blue Spanish Bluebells (Hyacinthoides hispanica).
